A/L ICT Lesson 04 Practice Tool: Logic Gates and Digital Circuits

This is a practice tool for Unit 4 of the Sri Lankan GCE Advanced Level ICT syllabus, Grade 12 (Competency 4), on logic gates and the elements of digital circuits. It covers the basic gates (NOT, AND, OR and XOR), the compound and universal gates (NAND, NOR and XNOR), Boolean algebra laws including De Morgan's theorems, simplifying expressions with Karnaugh maps in sum-of-products and product-of-sums form, combinational circuits such as the Half Adder and Full Adder, and sequential circuits such as the RS latch and flip-flops. This unit is heavily tested: it is the mandatory first question on Paper II and usually carries 4 to 6 MCQ marks and 10 to 15 marks on Paper II.

Seventeen activities are grouped into six modules: matching drills, flip cards, sorting exercises, a swipe task, step-sequencing and a fill-in form for the Half Adder truth table, plus a timed quiz. Your score is kept in your browser, so you can close the page and return to it.

The tool opens in English. Tap the language button to switch the whole tool to Sinhala. Both languages use the same terms as the Lesson 4 notes, so what you practise here matches what you read there.
