O/L ICT Lesson 7 Practice Tool: Electronic Spreadsheet
This is a practice tool for Unit 7 of the Sri Lankan GCE Ordinary Level ICT syllabus, Grade 10 (Competency 7), on electronic spreadsheets. It covers what a spreadsheet is and common examples such as MS Excel, Google Sheets and LibreOffice Calc, cells, rows, columns and cell references, the three kinds of cell reference relative, absolute and mixed and how they behave when a formula is copied, writing formulas with the operators for addition, subtraction, multiplication, division and powers and the order of operations known as BODMAS, the common functions SUM, AVERAGE, MAX, MIN and COUNT and how ranges like A1 to A5 are used, and choosing the right chart such as a column chart, line chart or pie chart. This is a core unit that appears in MCQ and short Paper II questions.
Eighteen activities are grouped into six modules: matching drills, flip cards for spreadsheet terms, sorting exercises for cell references and for functions and charts, ordering the order of operations, a swipe task on choosing charts, and timed quizzes.
