About SchoolICT
A free, self-study home for ICT lessons, live simulators, and practice games
SchoolICT is a free learning site where school and college students can read an ICT lesson, run a working simulator, and check their own answers – in a language they are comfortable with. It started in Sri Lanka and is written so a learner anywhere can use it, without a paywall and without an email sign-up.
🔴 1. What SchoolICT Is
Every topic here pairs a readable lesson with a hands-on tool. Instead of only describing how a logic gate or a number-base conversion works, the site lets you try it and shows the working step by step. Alongside the lessons there is a Game Hub and an ICT Arcade for revising the same ideas through play.

The lessons are written to line up with several courses at once, so a student is not locked to one country:
- Sri Lanka G.C.E. O/L and A/L ICT
- UK GCSE and A-Level Computer Science
- AP Computer Science A and AP Computer Science Principles
- Cambridge International 9618
Teachers are welcome too – many use the simulators in class and point students here for extra practice.
🟢 3. How Learning Works Here
One rule guides every build: if a student needs a paragraph of explanation before they can press the first button, the lesson is wrong and gets rebuilt. Each lesson opens with a plain worked example, then the theory, then practice.
Lessons use no external JavaScript frameworks, so once a page has loaded it keeps working even if the network drops. A few helpers – such as the translator and AI assistance – do connect online when you use them.
🔴 4. Language and Access
A built-in language bar translates the surrounding explanation into Sinhala, Tamil, English and more, while protecting the ICT terms you are meant to learn so the meaning stays intact. There is no email wall, and a student account is optional – it only exists so learners can save their own results and teachers can follow a class.
🟡 5. Who Builds SchoolICT
The site is built and maintained by Ruwan Mangala Suraweera, an ICT teacher in the Sri Lankan government school system. You can read his full background on the About the Founder page. Corrections from students and teachers are the main reason several lessons have been rewritten, and that feedback is always welcome through the Contact page.
🟢 6. How the Site Is Funded
SchoolICT is free and stays that way. Running costs are covered by advertising shown on the site. Advertisers have no say over which lessons get built or what they teach, and student progress is never shared with them. You can read more in our Editorial Policy.
