School timetabling is a high-pressure job. While the desktop aSc Timetables software is powerful for generating schedules, making quick adjustments, balancing teacher workloads, or assigning class teachers can often feel slow and complicated.
We are excited to launch the aSc Editor Pro. This isn’t just a viewer—it is a fully-featured Web Application designed to give you total control over your XML data with modern features like Auto-Save, Undo History, and Visual Analytics.
🚀 What’s New in the Pro Version?
We have rebuilt the tool from the ground up to support the workflow of busy ICT teachers and administrators.
1. 🛡️ Auto-Save & Crash Protection
Never lose your work again. The tool now automatically saves your progress to your browser’s memory every 30 seconds. If you accidentally close the tab or your computer crashes, simply reopen the page, and the tool will ask to Restore your previous session.
2. 📋 Comprehensive Class Details Dashboard
We introduced a dedicated “Class Details” tab. This gives you a bird’s-eye view of every class in the school:
- See who the Class Teacher is immediately.
- Check the Total Periods assigned to the class (e.g., is 10A getting enough periods?).
- See status indicators (Low Load / High Load) to spot errors instantly.
3. 📊 Smart Workload Analytics
The new Statistics Tab visualizes your data using interactive charts. See the top 15 busiest teachers, average workload across the school, and a count of unassigned lessons instantly.
4. ↩️ Undo History
Made a mistake assigning a teacher? No problem. The new Undo Button in the header allows you to revert your last action instantly.
5. ⭐ Smart Class Teacher Management
Assigning class teachers is now easier than ever. When selecting a teacher, the system displays badges (e.g., ⭐ 12A) so you can see if a teacher is already in charge of another class. You can manage all class teachers from a single, searchable list.
⚖️ Pros & Cons
Advantages (Pros):
- Zero Installation: Runs entirely in your web browser. No heavy software to download.
- Privacy First: Your data is processed locally in your browser. It is never uploaded to an external server.
- Speed: Much faster for making quick manual edits (like swapping teachers) than reloading the full desktop app.
- Visual Feedback: Color-coded workload indicators and charts make it easy to spot errors.
- Free: Completely free to use with no hidden costs.
Disadvantages (Cons):
- Not a Generator: This tool edits existing data. It does not automatically generate new timetables from scratch (you still need the desktop app for that).
- Conflict Checking: While it helps you see workloads, it allows manual overrides. It won’t stop you from double-booking a teacher if you really want to (though you can see it in the workload count).
💻 Compatibility & Requirements
Supported Versions: This tool is optimized for XML files exported from aSc Timetables 2012, 2015, up to 2024. Older versions may work but are not officially tested.
System Requirements:
- Device: Works on Desktop (PC/Mac), Tablets, and modern Smartphones.
- Browser: Best experience on Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, Firefox, or Safari.
- Internet: Required only to load the page initially. Once loaded, it can function offline until you refresh.
